Nassa Group Chairman Nazrul Islam Mazumder has been shown arrested in a case filed over the attempted murder of one Roni Khan during last year's Students Against Discrimination movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masum Mia's court ordered his arrest today (2 September) in the case following a police petition, confirmed Prosecution Inspector Md Asaduzzaman.
So far, Nazrul has been shown arrested in 13 cases.
Earlier, on 28 August, the investigating officer, Khilgaon Police Station Sub-Inspector Rowshan Ferdous, submitted a petition seeking to show him arrested. The court fixed today for the hearing in his presence.
According to the case statement, at around 5pm on 19 July last year, protesters came under attack near the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) office in Khilgaon's Meradia, during which Roni sustained a bullet wound to the neck.
After months of treatment, on 21 January this year, he filed a case with Khilgaon Police Station against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 186 others.
Nazrul Islam Mazumder was arrested on 2 October 2024 in Dhaka's Gulshan area.
Since then, he has remained in jail and has been shown arrested in multiple cases.
