Hearing on ex-CJ Khairul's bail and case dismissal scheduled for October
On 24 July 2025, police arrested the former chief justice at his residence in Dhanmondi

The High Court has scheduled a hearing in October on the bail plea and petition to annul the case filed against former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque in connection with the murder of Jubo Dal activist Abdul Kaiyum Ahad during the July uprising in Jatrabari.
The decision was made today (17 August) as the High Court bench of Justice Md Zakir Hossain and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raza granted time after Khairul Haque's lawyer sought a deferment, while the Attorney General also requested a longer date for the hearing. The court then fixed the hearing for October.
Earlier, on 7 August, Khairul Haque had filed the petition, which was listed as item number 18 on the court's cause list for 11 August.
When the defence lawyer sought to move the petition that day, the state counsel prayed for time. This led to a heated argument between the two sides, and several lawyers present said there was even pushing and shoving during the argument.
On 24 July 2025, police arrested the former chief justice at his residence in Dhanmondi.
He was later shown arrested in the murder case over the killing of Jubo Dal activist Abdul Kaiyum Ahad during the movement in Jatrabari.
Additionally, A B M Khairul Haque is also accused of three other cases, including one over alleged verdict forgery.
