Accused confesses to murder of 12-year-old at Jatrabari hotel room

A man arrested in connection with the killing of an unidentified 12-year-old child in a hotel room has given a confessional statement in court.
The incident took place after the child was allegedly lured from Kamalapur Railway Station to a residential hotel in Jatrabari.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ariful Islam's court recorded suspect Al-Amin's statement under Section 164 after police presented him before the court yesterday (19 July).
He was subsequently ordered to be sent to jail, according to court sources.
Police alleged that Al-Amin and another individual took the victim to the hotel where they abused him sexually before killing him.
Police also alleged that Al-Amin is a serial rapist who primarily targeted vulnerable street children, exploiting their helplessness.
According to the case documents, on 14 July, the body of a 12-year-old boy was recovered by Jatrabari police from room 256 of the Anwara Residential Hotel. The child's genitals and other parts of his body bore signs of injury. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital for an autopsy.
Analysis of the hotel's CCTV footage led police to identify Al-Amin and his accomplice, Saddam. A murder case was subsequently filed against them.
Police report that Al-Amin and Saddam checked into the Anwara Residential Hotel with the child on the night of 12 July. They left the hotel the following day and the child's body was discovered in the hotel room on 14 July.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested Al-Amin from the Tongi Railway Station area in Gazipur on 18 July.
PBI said operations are ongoing to arrest the other accused, Saddam.
