Swechchhasebak League leader found dead in Ctg
While police are assuming the incident as a possible suicide, Hiru’s family members have alleged that he was murdered and the body was hung to appear as a suicide

The body of a local leader of the Swechchhasebak League was found hanging at a house in Chattogram's Patiya upazila this morning (11 July).
The deceased was identified as Shamsed Hiru (48), a resident of Roshidabad village in Shovandondi union under the upazila.
Confirming the matter, Md Nuruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Patiya Police Station, said, "The body has been sent for autopsy. We will be able to confirm the cause of death once the report is received. Legal procedures will follow accordingly."
Hiru was also a union parishad (UP) member and an executive committee member of the now-suspended Chattogram South District unit of Swechchhasebak League, according to sources.
While police are assuming the incident as a possible suicide, Hiru's family members have alleged that he was murdered and the body was hung to appear as a suicide.
According to locals, Hiru had been in hiding since 5 August last year, following the fall of the Awami League government.
Due to multiple legal cases filed against him, he had been avoiding arrest, locals said.
Witnesses said he returned to the area late last night (10 July) and chose to stay at a neighbour's house to avoid detection.
In the early hours today, his wife went to check on him and found him hanging from a ceiling fan, visible through the window.
Upon receiving the information, police recovered the body from the room and sent it to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
