The BUET Auditorium turned into a vibrant hub of literary dialogue on Wednesday, 9 July 2025, as BUET Sahitya Sangsad hosted its flagship event, Sahasra Prahar Pore.

The evening featured acclaimed writer Abdullah Ibn Mahmud, whose engaging presence drew a whole house of students and literature lovers.

In his keynote speech, Mr. Mahmud delved into the nuances of writing, from crafting stories rooted in research to navigating the publication landscape. Sharing personal experiences and practical tips, he inspired aspiring writers to pursue authenticity in their creative journeys.

An open Q&A session followed, where students posed thought-provoking questions about the craft of storytelling, leading to meaningful exchanges between the speaker and the audience.

A highlight of the evening was the launch of the special edition of Panjeree, BUET Sahitya Sangsad's literary magazine. Abdullah Ibn Mahmud unveiled the issue, commending the editorial team and contributors for their dedication to literary expression.

The event also honoured winners of recent literary competitions, with the awards personally handed out by the guest of honour—an experience the young writers are unlikely to forget.

In his closing remarks, Shakib Hasan Nirzon, President of BUET Sahitya Sangsad, welcomed the new batch of students and spoke about the enduring relevance of literature, even in a science and engineering-dominated space. A token of appreciation was presented to the guest speaker to mark the occasion.

More than just a celebration of literature, Sahasra Prahar Pore underscored the timeless synergy between creative expression and critical thought, reaffirming BUET Sahitya Sangsad's role as a cultural anchor on campus.
