The Central City Hospital and Diagnostic Centre at Probartak Mor in Chattogram has been ordered to suspend its operations following allegations of irregularities and violations of health safety regulations.

The directive, signed by Chattogram District Civil Surgeon Dr Jahangir Alam, was issued yesterday (26 June).

According to the Civil Surgeon's Office, the hospital's diagnostic operations were reviewed based on a report by a joint inspection team formed on 24 March. The report revealed significant irregularities and breaches of health safety protocols.

Specifically, the hospital's pathology department was found lacking in licensing, staffing, quality control, and infrastructure, as per the Schedule 'Ka' and 'Kha' requirements.

Following the Directorate General of Health Services' (DGHS) recommendation, a decision was made to suspend the hospital's diagnostic services.

The order stated that, due to the failure to renew necessary documents, the pathology operations of Central City Hospital and Diagnostic Centre have been suspended in the interest of public health.
