17th annual senate meeting held at BUP

The 17th Annual Senate Meeting of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was held on 19 June 2025 at the Bijoy Auditorium of BUP. The meeting was presided over by BUP Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam, BSP, ndc, afwc, psc, MPhil, PhD.

At the outset, the Vice Chancellor expressed his gratitude to the outgoing members and welcomed the newly appointed members of the Senate. BUP Treasurer Air Commodore Md Reza Emdad Khan, GUP, BUP, ndc, psc GD(P), presented the revised budget of Tk 134.08 crore for the 2024–2025 fiscal year and proposed a budget of Tk 134.97 crore for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. Both budgets were unanimously approved by the Senate members. The 17th Annual Report of BUP was also placed before the Senate and received unanimous approval. The meeting was conducted by BUP Registrar Brigadier General Md Rabbi Ahsan, ndc, psc.

In his address, Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam highlighted the achievements of BUP students, faculty members, and researchers, noting their national and international recognition in competitions, seminars, workshops, and research activities. He shared that BUP has formulated a comprehensive Academic Strategic Plan–2050 aimed at achieving excellence in education, research, and innovation, and elevating the university to international standards.

The Vice Chancellor further stated that BUP is modernising its curricula with Outcome-Based Education (OBE), while enhancing research, innovation, publication, and research-support capabilities. He informed the Senate that BUP Research Centre (BRC) is energising research, innovation, and consultancy efforts through integrated faculties and affiliated institutions, encouraging high-quality research and fostering collaboration among academia, industry, and other institutions.

Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam emphasised BUP's dedication to nurturing students as not only academically competent but also disciplined, ethical, and responsible citizens. Ethical education has been incorporated across all programmes, and BUP is taking measures to attract international students to promote cultural diversity. Additionally, the university organises seminars, symposiums, cultural events, and programmes marking national days to instil moral values, integrity, patriotism, and social responsibility in its students.

The meeting was attended by Senate members including secretaries from various ministries, senior officials from the Bangladesh Armed Forces, and high officials of BUP.
