BUP hosts environmental fest and career carnival 2025
The BUP Environmental Fest and Career Carnival 2025, a flagship national event on environmental awareness and innovation, has been held successfully at the Bangladesh University of Professionals.
Organised by the Environmental Club BUP under the Department of Environmental Science, the festival drew active participation from students of universities across the country. Square Group served as the title sponsor for this year's edition.
The event was attended by Brigadier General Sufi Md Ataur Rahman, ndc, psc, dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, as the chief guest. In his speech, he emphasised the national importance of such initiatives and highlighted the critical role of environmental science and environmental literacy in addressing complex climate challenges. He noted that sustainable development and science-driven innovation will be crucial in shaping the future.
Held on 30 November, 2025 at the BUP campus in Mirpur Cantonment, the festival carried the theme Crafting a Regenerative Tomorrow through Circular Solutions and Zero-Waste Innovation, with the slogan Reclaiming Resources, Sustaining Growth. The programme aimed to bring environmental innovation, the circular economy, zero-waste technologies, and youth leadership onto one collaborative platform.
Beyond its celebratory setting, the festival functioned as a strategic bridge connecting academic understanding with pressing environmental problems and their scientific solutions. It sought to empower young people to respond effectively to climate impacts, contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, and foster environmentally conscious decision-making. The event played a meaningful role in building environmental awareness as well as strengthening research capabilities, leadership qualities, and innovation skills among students.
The Career Carnival segment allowed students to engage directly with representatives from international organisations, research institutes, NGOs, and corporate entities. Through CV submissions, career consultations, and discussions on internships and job opportunities, students were able to refine their career plans and gain insights into the environmental job market.
Several key segments enriched the festival. Poster Quest hosted research-based posters on environmental crises, renewable energy, and climate adaptation. Voices for Choices featured debates and public speaking sessions on environmental policy, climate justice, and sustainable urban development. Green Scenes screened nature-focused short documentary films. Your Lens, Our Glance showcased a curated photography exhibition focused on environmental themes and sustainable living.
Overall, the event encouraged creativity, research engagement, and environmental thinking among young participants while offering practical career guidance. Organisers expressed optimism that the initiative will continue in the coming years, further strengthening environmental awareness and youth leadership nationwide.
