Hosting.com launches operations in Bangladesh
Hosting . com, a global web hosting service provider, has officially commenced business operations in Bangladesh.
The formal launch ceremony was held on 14 January at Hotel Sheraton, Dhaka, with Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser at the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, attending as the chief guest.
At the event, hosting.com announced it will introduce Bangla-language customer support, facilitate local currency payments, and offer affordable hosting services tailored to the Bangladeshi market.
The programme was attended by Seb de Lemos, Chief Executive Officer of hosting.com; Panos Kesisis, Co-founder and Chief Operations Officer; Ben Gabler, Chief Product Officer; Daphne Monro, Head of Website and Content; and Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the ICT Division, as well as local technology experts and industry representatives.
Speaking at the event, Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb said the entry of hosting.com into the Bangladeshi market would help accelerate growth in server infrastructure, cloud-based solutions, artificial intelligence applications, search engine optimisation, and the domain business. He said increased competition would improve service quality and user experience, while contributing to the development of a stronger digital ecosystem, generating employment, and fostering innovation in knowledge- and technology-driven sectors.
Hosting.com CEO Seb de Lemos said the company has received extensive feedback regarding pricing and service packages, and is reviewing the matter. He said hosting.com plans to introduce special pricing and service packages for Bangladeshi customers, considering local market needs and cultural context.
He added that more than three million websites are currently hosted on the company's infrastructure, with a new website added every 15 seconds, supported by over 20 data centres worldwide, and a team of more than 1,000 professionals, ensuring fast and reliable services.
Meanwhile, Imran Hossen, Bangladesh Operations Manager of hosting.com, said the company's global-standard hosting and data infrastructure would create new opportunities for local entrepreneurs, start-ups, and digital businesses. He added that the initiative would strengthen the country's technology ecosystem, create employment, and support Bangladesh's ambition to emerge as a regional digital hub.
