Meanwhile, Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin, at a post-budget press conference today, said, "We have taken an innovative approach to ensure that fair prices are available for hides this year. 30,000 tonnes of salt have been distributed free of charge to various madrasahs and orphanages in the country to increase the capacity to preserve and process sacrificial hides."

He said, "Temporary approval has also been given for the export of raw and wet blue hides to create demand. As a result, it is hoped that the hides will get a fair price."
Earlier, the adviser had said due to the ban on the entry of hides into Dhaka, hide preservers in rural areas will be able to preserve them through salt.
Those who slaughter sacrificial animals can donate the rawhide to a madrasah or orphanage, which will be preserved and sold later.
According to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, the number of cattle eligible for sacrifice this year for the holy Eid-ul-Adha is 1.247 crore.
The ministry also said there may be a surplus of more than 20.68 lakh cattle this year.
