July Oikya, reportedly a coalition of around 80 organisations, staged demonstration in Dhaka today (3 June) demanding an "Awami League-free" secretariat.

The protest march began around 11:30am from in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh.

The demonstrators moved towards the Secretariat but were stopped by police barricades near the Shikkha Bhaban intersection.

July Oikya has been staging protests in recent days with a range of demands, including the call for a "fascism-free" administration.

On 25 May, the alliance held a rally in front of the National Museum to press the same demand.

Earlier, the group published a list of government officials it claims are "cohorts of the Awami League" and called for their compulsory retirement.
