The National Citizen Party (NCP) has sought a comprehensive roadmap addressing elections, reforms and justice from the interim government.

After a meeting with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House, Jamuna, tonight (24 May), the party Convener Nahid Islam told reporters, "We have requested the chief adviser to ensure the objectives for which he assumed office are fulfilled before taking further decisions. Our focus was on three integrated issues — reforms, justice, and elections — for which we urged a structured roadmap."

He further stated that the process of rehabilitating families of martyrs of the July Uprising has been proceeding slowly, and stressed the need to accelerate it.

The NCP delegation also demanded that all elections held during former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's tenure be declared void, calling for this declaration to be made through legal procedures.

Additionally, they called for reforms in the Election Commission and pressed for local government polls to be held before the national election.

"We were assured that the July Charter could be introduced within the month of July," Nahid Islam added.

A six-member NCP delegation, led by Convener Nahid Islam and including Chief Organiser (South) Hasnat Abdullah, Senior Joint Convener Ariful Islam Adib, and Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasnim Jara, atteneded in the meeting, which started around 9:30pm.

The delegation arrived at the venue at 8:28pm.

The meeting follows one with the BNP. At 7:30pm, a four-member delegation, led by BNP's Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and including Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahudin Ahmed and Moyeen Khan, talked about elections and the current political situation of the country.

BNP leaders Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, and Abdul Moyeen Khan were also present.

The next one was scheduled for 8:00pm, when a two-member delegation, led by Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman and Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, had national elections on agenda for their meeting.
