6 to walk gallows for killing trader in Sirajganj

A Sirajganj court today (20 May) sentenced six people to death for killing a vegetable trader in 2017.
Senior District and Sessions Judge M Ali Ahmed pronounced the verdict and also imposed a fine of Tk10,000 each, in default, to suffer one month more in jail.
All the convicts are absconding, said Advocate Shakil Mohammad Sharifur Haydar, public prosecutor of the court.
The convicts are: Khaja Mia, son of Haider Ali of Pardhundia village of Gobindaganj Police Station; M Enamul, son of the late Moyez Uddin of Bishpukur village in Harinathpur; Mojahid, son of late Mojibur Sheikh of Dargapara village; Basu, son of Haider Ali of Pardhundia village; Saidul Islam, son of Abdur Rahman Pradhan of Madardah Purbapara village; and Milon Sarkar, son of Nazrul Islam Sarkar of Ramnagar village of Saghata Police Station in Gaibandha district.
According to the prosecution, vegetable trader Nazmul Islam left for Dhaka in the afternoon of 10 August 2017 after buying vegetables from Chakgori Market in Naogaon. But his family has lost contact with Nazmul since 11 August.
Later, the victim's body was recovered from the Hatikumrul area under the Salanga Police Station in Sirajganj on 12 August.
Nazmul's father, Abdur Rahman, filed a case in this connection.
