Gaan Bangla Chairman Taposh shown arrested in attempted murder case
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaq passed the order

A Dhaka court today (7 May) sent Kaushik Hossain Taposh, chairman of Gaan Bangla TV, to jail after showing him arrested in a case filed for an attempt to kill rickshaw-van driver Abdul Jabbar Howlader during last year's student-led July-August mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaq passed the order after the investigation officer produced him before the court with an appeal to officially show him arrested in the Abdul Jabbar Howlader case.
According to the case details, on 19 July last year, during a protest led by the Students Against Discrimination, police and ruling party activists allegedly opened fire near Confidence Tower in Shahjadpur, Gulshan. Abdul Jabbar Howlader sustained gunshot injuries during the protest.
Abdul Jabbar later filed an attempted murder case with Gulshan Police Station against 109 individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Taposh was detained on the night of 3 November last year in the capital's Bhatara area.
On 6 November, he was placed on a three-day remand in a case filed in connection with the attempted murder of a person named Ishtiaq Mahmud during the mass uprising.
