Nursing students block road in Rajshahi, demand degree status for diploma course

Nursing students in Rajshahi have staged a demonstration and blockade at Railgate intersection, demanding that the Diploma in Nursing Science course be recognised as equivalent to a degree.
The protest began around 12 noon today (30 April), when students halted traffic and launched a sit-in programme.
Speaking to reporters at the scene, the protesting students said they have long been carrying out various programmes with a single demand.

"We have already placed our demand before top-level government officials. But despite the logical nature of the issue, those concerned seem indifferent," one of the protesting students said.
The students said they have boycotted their internship and duty for the day to press home their demand.
The demonstrators declared that the blockade programme would continue until their demand is met.
