icddr,b and Notre Dame college signs MOU
Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) and icddr,b signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 24 to collaborate on academic and scientific research, laboratory support, and knowledge exchange.
The agreement was formalised by Dr Tahmeed Ahmed, Executive Director of icddr,b, and Professor Dr Former Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC, Vice Chancellor of NDUB.
Through this partnership, icddr,b and NDUB will jointly develop research proposals, apply for grants, and provide technical laboratory support. The collaboration will focus on various areas, including public health issues, laboratory research on pathogens and humans, bioinformatics analysis, and platform sharing. Both institutions will exchange knowledge, laboratory methods, and technology while developing research workflows, specimen testing protocols, and sample site selection strategies. Additionally, the MoU outlines undergraduate students' internship opportunities aligned with both organisations' policies.

As part of the partnership launch, the NDUB team visited the icddr,b Genome Centre, which offers Bangladesh's most comprehensive molecular testing service. The facility supports cancer specialists by providing faster, more accurate, and locally accessible diagnostics to guide personalized treatment plans.
