Students of Munshiganj Nursing Institute staged a one-hour human chain and sit-in protest today (28 April), demanding that the Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery and Diploma in Midwifery be recognised as equivalent to a bachelor's degree.

The demonstration began at 10:30am in front of the 250-bed Munshiganj General Hospital, with around a hundred students participating under the banner of the Nursing Institute, Munshiganj.

Following the human chain, the students marched from the hospital to Supermarket Square, where they held a brief rally highlighting longstanding issues faced by diploma nursing students.
