Daughter of July uprising martyr 'dies by suicide' after alleged rape
Daughter of a 2024 July uprising martyr reportedly died by suicide in Dhaka yesterday (26 April), weeks after surviving a rape incident.
Adabor Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Zakaria said the body is currently in hospital and legal procedures are underway.
According to locals, the deceased, Lamia, 17, daughter of Jashim Uddin, was found hanging at her residence in the capital's Shekhertek around 9:00pm.

Locals rushed her to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
The tragic event follows a previous incident on 18 March, when Lamia was allegedly raped while returning home after visiting her father's grave in Patuakhali's Dumki upazila.
Following the incident, Patuakhali police arrested a man named Sakib Munshi, a resident of Pangasia union's West Algi village. Dumki Police Station OC Zakir Hossain said a case had been filed against the accused.
