The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has transferred a case filed over the theft of 55.51 kilograms of gold from the customs warehouse of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Confirming the matter today (22 April), ACC Deputy Director Md Akhtarul Islam said a Dhaka court had directed the commission to investigate the case.

The case was originally filed by customs authorities at the Airport Police Station, after the theft was reported on 3 September 2023. Since then, the PBI had been investigating the matter.

However, considering that the nature of the crime falls under the ACC's jurisdiction, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court recently ordered ACC's Inquiry and Investigation-1 branch to take action.
