Presidency University celebrates Pahela Baishakh 1432

Presidency University ushered in Pahela Baishakh 1432 with a day-long celebration marked by colour, culture, and community spirit.

The event was held on the university's rooftop campus in Gulshan, where students and faculty gathered to celebrate the Bengali New Year with traditional flair.

The celebration began with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the event, followed by a group dance performance that set the tone for the festivities. Students' performances of folk songs, poetry recitations, and traditional dances enriched the occasion.

Before the main celebration, the university's video and photography contest winners were awarded for their creativity and participation.

The event was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr Md Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, with remarks also delivered by Afroza Helen, Director of Student Affairs and Administration; Professor Md Azharul Islam, Dean of the School of Law; Professor Dr Md Shahidul Islam Khan, Dean of the School of Engineering; and Professor Md Abul Kalam, Dean of the School of Business.

Md Zahid Hasan, Deputy Director and Head of Admission and Public Relations, and Koli Akhter Joya, Assistant Executive of the same department, hosted the programme.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, students from various departments set up themed stalls offering traditional Bengali food and crafts, showcasing the cultural richness of the occasion. The Vice-Chancellor fac,ulty, and staff toured the stalls and engaged with the student exhibitors.

The second half of the day featured a cultural showcase, where students performed a series of musical, poetic, and dance numbers, transforming the rooftop into a vibrant celebration of Bengali heritage.

The event brought together the entire university community, making it a memorable day of cultural pride and joyful celebration.
