Now 486 turtle hatchlings released into Naf river
The turtles were released around 4:30pm today (3 April) at the Shahparir Dwip’s Bazarpara jetty area in the upazila’s Sabrang union
A total of 486 turtle hatchlings, born in a hatchery near Majherpara sea beach on Shahparir Dwip in Teknaf, have been released into the Naf river instead of the sea this time.
The turtles were released around 4:30pm today (3 April) at the Shahparir Dwip's Bazarpara jetty area in the upazila's Sabrang union, Nature Conservation Management (NACOM) Manager for Natural Resource Management and Climate Change, Abdul Kaiyum, told The Business Standard.
He said a total of 8,500 turtle hatchlings were collected from the Majherpara beach area. So far, more than 3,000 hatchlings have been released in multiple phases into both the sea and the Naf river.

Earlier, on Tuesday afternoon, 111 turtle hatchlings were released at the Majherpara sea beach, followed by the release of an additional 300 hatchlings at the same location on 29 March.
