The accused reportedly made a Facebook post defaming Islam and Prophet Muhammad on Sunday night, according to local sources.

Reacting to that, the imam and devotees of a local mosque discussed the issue with police, who assured them of arresting the young boy.

Md Mahtab Uddin, officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Sadar Police Station, confirmed the news to The Business Standard, saying: "A case has been filed in this connection. Police placed the boy before the court after his arrest."

Demanding tougher punishment of the boy, Muslims of the area held a protest meeting at Launchghat Jame Mosque.
