Chinese company to invest $12.25mn in Mongla EPZ
An agreement has been signed to establish a high-end garments manufacturing industry

Safety Garments Bangladesh Co Ltd, a Chinese company, is set to invest $12.25 million in the Mongla Export Processing Zone (Mongla EPZ) to establish a high-end garments manufacturing industry.
The company plans to produce reflective jackets, vests, t-shirts, fleece jackets, coveralls, and safety helmets, creating employment opportunities for 1,616 Bangladeshi nationals.
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) signed an agreement with the company on Monday (17 March) at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BSP, ndc, psc, witnessed the signing ceremony, where Md Imtiaz Hossain, member (Engineering & Investment Promotion – Additional Charge) of BEPZA, and Shi Yan, managing director of Safety Garments Bangladesh Co Ltd, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
The BEPZA Executive Chairman thanked Safety Garments Bangladesh Co Ltd for choosing Bangladesh, particularly Mongla EPZ, as their investment destination. He highlighted BEPZA's commitment to providing a secure and supportive environment for investors and expressed hope that the company would prioritise environmental protection while operating successfully within the EPZ.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior BEPZA officials, including Member (Finance) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Admin) Md Tazim-Ur-Rahman, and representatives from Safety Garments Bangladesh Co Ltd.
