8-year-old girl raped by distant relative in Ashulia
The child has been sent to the One Stop Crisis Center at Dhaka Medical College Hospital
An eight-year-old madrasa student was raped allegedly by her distant relative in the Kaichabari area of Ashulia of Savar yesterday (10 March).
The child's father filed a case at Ashulia Police Station following the incident.
The accused, identified as Md Russell (19), a resident of Nabinagar, Bhola, is the girl's distant uncle.

Ashulia Police Inspector Md Kamal Hossain confirmed the filing of the case.
He said the child has been sent to the One Stop Crisis Center at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
Authorities are working to arrest the accused, he added.
According to the case, the child's parents, both garment workers, reside in a rented house in Kaichabari. Russell had recently been staying with them as a guest. On the day of the incident, the parents left for work, leaving their daughter at home.
Around 8am, the accused's father called the child's father, informing him that Russell was locked by some people in their house. Upon returning home, the father found the child crying, said the case statement.
Witnesses later stated that Russell had fled after raping the child around 7am.
