Kanye West announces presidential campaign in South Carolina

Kanye West has officially started his campaign in South Carolina.

West will host the afternoon stop at the Exquis Event Center in North Charleston for registered guests only. All attendees will be required to wear masks, observe social distancing and sign a Covid-19 liability release form, reported by ABC news.

Those who wish to attend will need to sign up at West's new campaign site, kanye2020.country -- though the site doesn't appear to have a specific link to sign up for the event yet.

Earlier in the day, West had tweeted he was looking to acquire signatures to get on the ballot in the state.

"Hi guys please sign up to put me on the ballot in South Carolina at any of these locations," he wrote, sharing a list of locations. "You can also sign up at the website kanye2020.country."

It's not entirely clear how West would qualify, as South Carolina's deadline to file signatures as an independent candidate was July 15. The state does not allow write-in candidates.

His intentions over the presidential bid has been under scrutiny for several weeks as he has failed to meet the minimum requirements, and deadline in many states.

A source familiar to West's campaign told Politico that he was registered in two states now.

He added, "It's such a baby organization it doesn't even have a logo yet."

West's campaign is getting traction amidst concerns over his mental health. Making His run seem more like a publicity stunt, that was untill last week.

When in a surprise move last Wednesday, the rapper filed to be on the Oklahoma Ballot.

Kanye West's first campaign event is scheduled this Sunday at 5 pm.
