‘Kuldeep alone is enough for them’ – Sehwag mocks Bangladesh

Virender Sehwag has dismissed Bangladesh's challenge as insignificant, claiming India never faced any real threat despite the close finish in their Champions Trophy encounter.

Bangladesh, after collapsing to 35 for 5, fought back through their middle order to post a competitive 228 in Dubai. The Tigers then made India sweat, reducing them to 144 for 4, with key batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back in the pavilion. Yet Sehwag remained unconvinced, insisting India were always in control.

"I don't think anyone was worried. It's Bangladesh! You're praising them as if they're Australia or Pakistan," Sehwag said during a post-match discussion on Cricbuzz. "There's no unpredictability here. If I wasn't concerned, why would the fans be?"

Shubman Gill's composed century eventually guided India to victory in the 47th over, but Sehwag claimed the game should have ended much earlier. "If Rohit and Kohli hadn't gotten out, we'd have finished it in 35 overs. Gill just took his time," he added.

The former opener also dismissed the impact of Zakir Ali's crucial dropped catch of KL Rahul, which could have swung the game further in Bangladesh's favour. When Parthiv Patel pointed out that India still had 70 runs to chase at that stage, Sehwag scoffed, "Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja were there. Even Kuldeep Yadav's batting would've been enough against Bangladesh."
