At least 15 were injured after dense fog led to collisions between four vehicles on the Sreenagar upazila portion of the Dhaka-Mawa expressway in Munshiganj this morning (17 February).

The accident took place at around 7:30am when a covered van rear-ended a pickup due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, resulting in two more buses colliding with the already affected vehicles, said Hasara Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Kader Zilani.

The front of the covered van and the two buses were severely damaged during the accident.

According to fire service officials, the accident happened on the Dhaka-bound lane of the Expressway.

The victims were rescued and admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Among them, the condition of one person is serious, fire service officials said.

Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and rescued the injured by cutting down the vehicles and sent them to hospital, sources at the highway police said.

"One of the vehicles has left the spot after the accident," OC Abdul Kader Zilani said.

"Vehicular movement is currently normal on the expressway," he added.
