Taskin Ahmed's stellar form in recent years has earned him recognition both domestically and internationally. However, missed opportunities, such as not being picked for franchise leagues, have never deterred the Bangladesh pacer.

Speaking after a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match for Durbar Rajshahi, where he leads the tournament's wicket charts with 20 scalps in nine games, Taskin addressed the disappointment of not being selected in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft. "No, there's nothing upsetting about not being picked," he said.

"I've already missed out on the IPL three times before. If I let that upset me, I'd have hanged myself by now. What's written in destiny will happen, Inshallah."

Taskin's impressive performances earned him the captaincy of Durbar Rajshahi midway through the tournament, replacing Anamul Haque Bijoy.

Although the team lost their first match under his leadership by a heavy margin—an 111-run defeat to Chittagong Kings—Taskin took the new role in stride.

"This was a call from the management and owners," he explained. "I've played with Bijoy bhai since our Under-19 days. Everyone decided together that I should lead for the remaining matches."

Despite Rajshahi's struggles—they are fifth on the table with three wins in nine matches—Taskin remains optimistic. "Our squad was slightly weaker compared to other teams, but the players we have are still giving their best. If we win two of our next three games, there's still a chance to qualify," he said.

Taskin's standout performances in the BPL come on batting-friendly tracks, where he has been consistently delivering.

When asked about the secret to his form, Taskin said, "There's no rocket science. I try to adapt to the situation and execute my plans. Over the years, I've stuck to a process and focused on improving every day. Bad days are part of the game, but I start fresh every day."

His humility and dedication to the sport remain evident. "I dream big and work hard every day. As long as Allah keeps me healthy, I hope to continue playing for many more years," Taskin added.
