A court here today showed 13 people, including Salman F Rahman, former private industry affairs adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and former food minister Advocate Qamrul Islam, arrested in fresh murder cases lodged with the different police stations in the capital.

The 11 other arrestees are-Dr Dipu Moni, Anisul Huq, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu, Haji Mohammad Salim, former inspectors general of police (IGPs) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and Shahidul Haque, ABM Fazle Karim, Jamal Mostafa and Chowdhury Jahangir Alam.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman passed the orders as police produced the 13 accused before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases. The court later sent them back to jail.

Of the 13, former law minister Anisul Huq was shown arrested in seven murder cases filed with the Jatrabari police station and another murder case filed with the Mohammadpur police station. He was also shown arrested in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Former food minister Advocate Qamrul Islam was shown arrested in a murder case filed with the Adabor police station, while former social welfare minister Dr Dipu Moni was shown arrested in two murder cases filed with the Jatrabari police station. Salman F Rahman was shown arrested in four Jatrabari killing cases and another killing case filed with the Mohammadpur police station.

Former minister Inu and Menon were shown arrested in five murder cases filed with the Jatrabari police station. Former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was shown arrested in two murder cases filed with the Jatrabari police station and another murder case filed with the Sutrapur police station.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was shown arrested in six murder cases filed with the Jatrabari police station, two cases filed with the Mohammadpur police station and another two murder cases filed with the Sutrapur police station. Shahidul Haque and Haji Mohammad Salim were shown arrested in a murder case filed with the Jatrabari police station. Former lawmaker ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury was shown arrested in two murder cases filed with the Kotwali police station and Uttara West police station.

Kafrul thana Awami League president and former councilor Jamal Mostafa was shown in a murder case filed with the Bhashantek police station and a murder attempt case filed with the Kafrul police station. Chowdhury Jahangir Alam was shown arrested in a murder case filed with the Jatrabari police station.
