The Jatiya Nagorik Committee has called for the immediate drafting of a July Proclamation to ensure the security of martyrs' families and injured individuals.

"If it is not declared that a mass revolution took place in July, or if it doesn't receive legal and constitutional grounding, then each of the injured and families of the martyrs will face security risks," Abdullah Al Amin, central joint member secretary of the platform, said during a public outreach event in Narayanganj today (8 January).

The programme, organised jointly by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, included a leaflet distribution campaign earlier in the day.

"We made the demand for the declaration from the rally at Dhaka Central Shaheed Minar on 31 December. The government took responsibility that the declaration would be drafted by the state itself. But until now, we haven't seen any visible activity from their side," said Al Amin.

He urged the government to act on its promise, adding, "We are conducting public outreach so that the July declaration is drafted in light of the promise the government made."

Al Amin explained that the outreach programme, carried out jointly by the committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, aims to build public opinion and support for the proclamation.

"This public outreach will continue in all seven police station areas of Narayanganj. Different teams will continue this work every day until the 14th. We want to convey the message of this proclamation to people of all levels.

"This programme of ours is ongoing nationwide. Along with public relations, there are also plans to hold public meetings. Through this, a public opinion and a mass upsurge will be created across the country in favour of the July declaration," he added.

The event was attended by several central and local leaders, including Shaukat Ali and Sabit Al Hasan, members of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, and Nirab Raihan and Zahid Hasan, organisers of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
