Rahmatganj’s Boateng nets six as Mohammedan make it six wins in six

Rahmatganj forward Samuel Boateng etched his name in history with a double hat-trick, guiding his side to a 6-1 demolition of Dhaka Wanderers in the Bangladesh Premier League on 4 January.

Meanwhile, Mohammedan Sporting Club continued their perfect start to the season, defeating Chattogram Abahani 5-1 to make it six wins in as many matches.

Boateng's historic feat for Rahmatganj

Playing at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, Boateng was in unstoppable form. The Ghanaian forward netted three goals in each half, becoming the first player in 17 years to score a double hat-trick in Bangladesh's top league. His goals came in the 23rd, 37th, 44th, 63rd, 66th, and 70th minutes, leaving the Wanderers' defence helpless.

The last double hat-trick in the Premier League was recorded in 2007 when Mohammedan's Paul Nwachukwu struck six times against Rahmatganj in a 7-1 victory.

Boateng's heroics have propelled him to the top of the season's goal-scoring chart with ten goals, surpassing Brothers Union's Chek Sine, who has six.

Rahmatganj's scoring spree is not limited to this game. The club has now netted six goals in three consecutive matches across all competitions. In December, they secured a 6-0 win against Fakirerpool in the Federation Cup, followed by a 6-1 victory against the same opponents days later.

Mohammedan's dominance continues

Over at Mymensingh's Rafiquddin Bhuiyan Stadium, Mohammedan Sporting Club further cemented their position at the top of the table with a commanding 5-1 win over Chattogram Abahani, despite playing most of the match with ten men.

Mohammedan faced an early setback when Sakil Ahmed Topu received a red card in the 22nd minute. However, Alfaz Ahmed's men bounced back in style after the break. Maungzeer Koulidiati opened the scoring in the 47th minute, and Emmanuel Sunday doubled the lead in the 55th. Sourav Dewan added two more goals in the 63rd and 90th minutes, with an own goal from Chattogram Abahani in the 88th minute adding to their woes.

Chattogram Abahani managed a late consolation goal in stoppage time but were thoroughly outclassed.

The victory keeps Mohammedan unbeaten with 18 points from six matches, three ahead of second-placed Rahmatganj.
