They were suspended due to massive irregularities in Prime Minister's humanitarian assistance programmes and food-friendly programmes.

They were also involved in irregularities while distributing government rice and making beneficiary's lists illegally.

The suspended UP members were U-drain construction project committee President Md Ali alias Alam hailing at Ward number 8 under Ashimpatuli union of Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh district and Uttam Biswash of ward-5 of Nabogram union parishad in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur
district.

Union Parishad member Alam has been suspended for using bamboo instead of rod in the construction of U-drain under Local Governance Support Project-3 while another UP member Uttam was involved in various irregularities such as improper rice distribution under food-friendly programme and rice embezzlement.

Besides, separate showcase notices were served on them asking them to send their replies to the LGD through respective deputy commissioners (DCs) within 10 working days from the date of receiving notices, explaining why they should not be removed permanently from their posts.
