MTB Elects Syed Manzur Elahi as Chairman and Rashed Ahmed Chowdhury as Vice Chairman

Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) has elected Syed Manzur Elahi as Chairman and Rashed Ahmed Chowdhury as Vice Chairman. The decisions were made during the 314th meeting of the Board of Directors, held on 26 December 2024.

Syed Manzur Elahi, the founding Chairman of MTB and Pioneer Insurance Company Limited, is a well-known industrialist and leader. Over the years, he has been recognised with prestigious awards, such as the "Business Executive of the Year 2000" and the "Business Person of the Year 2002".

In addition to his business achievements, Elahi has twice served as Adviser to the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh, in 1996 and 2001, gaining respect for his leadership and professionalism.

Elahi is the Chairman of Apex Group, Grey Advertising (Bangladesh) Ltd., Quantum Consumer Solutions Ltd., Manusher Jonno Foundation, and Sunbeams School Ltd. He is also the Managing Director of International Publications Limited.

Elahi holds leadership roles in various organisations, including the Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh Limited (CRAB), Central Depository Bangladesh Ltd. (CDBL), and East West University, where he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He is also a Trustee of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Diabetic Association of Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Freedom Foundation.

With an M.A. in Economics from the University of Dhaka, Elahi has recently served as Vice Chairman of MTB and Chairman of the Board Executive Committee for two successful years.

Rashed Ahmed Chowdhury has been appointed as the new Vice Chairman of MTB. Before this role, he was the Chairman of the Board Risk Management Committee. Chowdhury is the Chairman of ABC Building Products Limited and a Director at Associated Builders Corporation Ltd. (ABC) and ABC Real Estate Ltd.

Chowdhury is a founder trustee and former Chairman of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). He is also a founding member and past President of Cadet College Club Limited. Additionally, he is involved with the Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital (IIEI&H) and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Centre.

He is a member of the Chartered Management Institute, UK, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role.
