Shwapno selling potatoes at Tk30, onions Tk75
A maximum of two kilogrammes can be purchased at that price

Shwapno, the largest retail chain shop in the country, has started selling potatoes at Tk30 per kilogramme and onions at Tk75 per kilogramme, from Tuesday morning, at its outlets.
The initiative aims to provide some relief to its customers amid rising prices at kitchen markets.
Mahadi Faisal, head of business, Shwapno, said, "Every buyer can purchase potatoes at Tk30 per kilogramme and onions at Tk75 per kilogramme, for a maximum of two kilogrammes at a time, on condition of purchasing other products costing a minimum of Tk300," according to a press release.
This offer is valid until stocks run out, and the condition aims to prevent the resale of the products. Orders can also be placed through the company's e-commerce site (Shwapno.com), he said.
The retail prices of potatoes and onions are currently unstable. In just one month, the prices of potatoes and onions on the retail market have risen at an alarming rate, read the statement.
Though the selling price of potatoes was set by the government, to control the price hike on the open market, potatoes are being sold for more than the fixed price.
At the same time, the price of onion has also gone up, it read.
