India imposes Section 144 ahead of anti-CAB march
The planned protest march will take place from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar
Parts of Delhi - New Delhi, North-East Delhi, and Red Fort area, are currently under the imposition of Section 144 ahead of a planned protest march against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAB) from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar of India.
Protesting students of West Bengal blocked the convoy of Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at Jadavpur University where the Governor arrived for a convocation ceremony, reports The Indian Express.
Amid growing opposition against the amended citizenship law, the Union cabinet is scheduled to meet in the national capital today, news agency ANI reported.

Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi attempted to allay fears on CAB and a proposed nationwide National Register of Citizens - a bureaucratic citizenship exercise monitored by the Supreme Court, protests against the bill continue to increase since the passage of the legislation.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to hold her fifth protest march today against the legislation. She will lead the march from Swami Vivekanada statue at Bidhan Sarani in north Kolkata to Gandhi Bhawan in Beleghata.
Meanwhile, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will lead a pro-CAB rally in West Bengal's Siliguri.
The CAB seeks to grant citizenship to non-Muslim minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Protesters have argued that the Act is unconstitutional as it proposes religious classification.
