David Gilmour's 1969 Fender Stratocaster, known as the "Black Strat", was his principal guitar during Pink Floyd's classic era, featuring on landmark albums including The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall. Purchased by Gilmour in 1970, the guitar became one of rock music's most recognisable instruments before setting a $3.98 million auction record in 2019 and then selling for $14.55 million in 2026.
