As Elon Musk took on hosting duties for the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, he declared that he is the first person with Asperger's Syndrome to host the variety sketch series.

During his monologue, the controversial Tesla CEO and SpaceX leader said, "It's an honor to be hosting Saturday Night Live," He further explained, "Sometimes after I say something, I have to say, "I mean that," due to the fact that there is often not a lot of variation in the way he speaks.

Towards the end of Musk's monologue, he praised the fact that SNL is truly live, and that he could say anything, even something completely outrageous. "I drive a Prius," he said with a laugh.

Musk also brought his mother on stage, and the two recalled the time that Musk made a video game about space when he was a child. "And I'm excited about my mothers day gift," she joked. "I hope it's not Dogecoin."

The appointment of Musk, who is, according to Forbes, the third richest person in the world, was unusual given that SNL hosts are typically actors or musicians, and occasionally, athletes.

Musk's hosting gig is unique compared to the usual slate of actors and musicians who've hosted throughout the 46 seasons of SNL. This will be the Tesla CEO's first time hosting and Miley Cyrus' sixth time appearing as a musical guest. Cyrus has previously hosted in 2013 and 2015.

For the first time ever, SNL was live-streamed internationally on YouTube in over 100 countries. This was a new attempt to broaden the audience reach. The network offered no word about whether the live-stream would be supported by advertising, or if the global effort would continue beyond this week.
