A devastating flash flood and mudslide have struck the Nepal-Tibet border, killing at least 162 people and leaving hundreds missing. Authorities say a glacial collapse and debris flow, not the initially suspected earthquake, triggered the disaster.
Hundreds remain unaccounted for in Tibet's Gyirong county and on the Nepali side as rescue teams battle massive mudslides, difficult terrain and continued rainfall. Authorities are also monitoring the Trishuli River over fears of a possible secondary flash flood.
