The director who made 8 TV dramas on Mother Language Day

Tuhin Hossain has been making television dramas based on themes of different national and international days regularly since 2013. His dramas have been aired on various television channels of the country. Many of his works have also been praised by viewers and critics.

One of his favourite themes is the International Mother Language Day. So far, he has made eight dramas based on this special day, which have been aired every 21st February since 2013, on television channels including Maasranga, NTV, RTV, ATN Bangla.

Tuhin Hossain said, "I made the first television drama in my life in 2013. That was based on the theme of International Mother Language Day. The name of the drama was 'Shaheed Minar'. From the very beginning of my creative career, it seemed that as a Bengali I should start with a work on Mother Language Day. In fact, my main goal in making dramas was to work on the national days that the Bangalis have. At the same time, I also wanted to work with children."

"I tried to connect the story of Shaheed Minar with children. In that drama, we tried to convey the glory of Shaheed Minar and our Mother Language Day to those who will take the helm of the country as the next generation," Tuhin said about his first drama.

What is the biggest challenge of special day-based work?

"Our national days are not lucrative enough for big investments, as much as Valentine's Day or other days. However, any drama or content on national days, especially Mother Language Day, Independence Day, Victory Day can create a sense of nationalism or patriotism in us. So, I would say the budget is a big problem," replied Tuhin.

"You can find a big budget in our country only when there are big stars in your production. But if you have to work with a lot of artists to tell the story of a time or period, you don't recruit big stars. As a result, you have to work with a low budget," he added.

He said, "If you want to tell the story of your contemporary time you will get more money. But the budget will come down to half if your story is based on the past or any historical period. Besides, there are also problems with television broadcasts."

Tuhin Hossain also faced such problems during his first drama Shaheed Minar. At first, that drama was refused by several channels. Finally, it was aired on Maasranga TV. However, he got a good response from the viewers.

"Fazlur Rahman Babu was the only known actor in that drama. For this reason, many channels refused it. Maasranga watched the drama at that time and showed interest in promoting it. After the promotion, many big producers and actors called and praised me," said Tuhin.

He said that if you want to do periodical work, you have to face problems with the location. When working in remote areas, you have to deal with the spectators who come to see the shoot, which is very tough.

Tuhin said the simple people of rural areas do not have any idea about shooting. They think it's very easy. They want to take pictures or stay close to them. Finding a suitable location for a period drama is very important.

However, Tuhin thinks that the story of sacrifice or victory of Bangalis can be broadcast at any time of the year. It should not be limited to just one day. It will create an opportunity for those who work in this medium, it will also get a response from the audience.
