The physical condition of Bangladeshi band Aurthohin's lead vocalist Saidus Salehin Khaled, popularly known as 'Bassbaba' Sumon, has been critical for several days.

He was supposed to travel to Germany for treatment last year but it got postponed due to the pandemic.

Now visa complications are hindering his better treatment.

Raju Ahmed, manager of Aurthohin, said this to The Prothom Alo yesterday.

He said, "Sumon's physical condition is worse than before. The pain in his spinal cord has increased a lot. He is often in pain these days. It needs treatment on an emergency basis. We are trying to get him to Germany quickly because this treatment is available there. He is currently undergoing treatment under some physicians in the country."

Several years ago, two tumours were detected in Sumon's body. Then it was heard that Sumon was suffering from cancer. It was the first stage of cancer. He underwent a surgery at that time.

Gradually, his condition improved. But when he was about to return to his regular life, there was a bad news again. The cancer was back.

Still he did not lose his mental strength and underwent another surgery in Bangkok in 2017.

On his way back from the hospital after the surgery, he was hit by a car.

Immediately, nine surgeries were performed on him.

Sumon's spinal cord was damaged in the accident. Since then, the pain has been increasing, and it is getting unbearable.

Sumon cannot sit at a stretch for a long time and needs to lie down and take rest.

Now he has to eat very little food as per the advice of doctors.

This singer sang a song in 2018 while he was ill. The song has been used in the movie Unoponchash Batas
