Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated Tarique Rahman on the BNP's "decisive" victory in Bangladesh's 13th national election and his assumption of office as prime minister.
In a message shared on his verified X account today (17 February), the Pakistani president conveyed his best wishes to PM Tarique for success in leading Bangladesh toward stability and prosperity, expressing hope that the new administration would strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
President Asif further appreciated the role of the interim government in holding what he described as a peaceful and fair election.
Earlier in the day, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman took oath as the country's 11th prime minister, with the swearing-in of the new 50-member cabinet following his party's sweeping victory in the 13th national election.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
