A triservice contingent of Bangladesh Armed Forces has departed the country on Tuesday, to take part in the Republic Day parade of India.

The contingent comprising 122 soldiers from Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Forces departed for India on a special flight -IAF C-17, says a press release issued by the ISPR.

"This is only the third time that in India's history that any foreign military contingent has been invited to participate in its National Parade at Rajpath in Central Delhi," the press release stated.

It is especially significant as the year 2021 marks 50 years of the Liberation War of Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh contingent will carry forward the legacy of the brave Muktijoddhas, who fought for freedom, justice and their people, it added.

The Parade will be broadcast live, worldwide, on 26 January. |
