Best Bikes of 2020

The Dhaka Motor Show, this year, would have set another milestone for motorcycle manufacturers, importers, and distributors. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has hit the automotive industry very hard and there are not as many new bikes on the streets as we expected for 2020.

Despite facing a huge downturn in sales, some manufacturers and dealerships launched their latest two-wheeler models in Bangladesh. While some new additions managed to revive the hearts of motorheads, some failed to attract new customers even with its quality features because of the hefty price tag.

Among all the motorcycles that were launched this year, we decided to pick the best of three segments - sports, tourer, and commuter.

So, without any delay, let us look at the motorbikes that made it to the 2020 top three list.

Suzuki GSX-R 150

While talking about this masterpiece, a huge debate often arises among motorcyclists where one party usually claims that the Yamaha R15 V3 is way better than the Suzuki GSX-R 150 and vice versa. The third-generation R15 is indeed Yamaha's best machine in Bangladesh however, if we compare the overall aspects, the Suzuki GSX-R 150 is, without any doubt, the best motorcycle in its segment in Bangladesh.

The GSX-R 150 is powered by a 149cc four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel injection engine that can deliver a maximum power of 18.9BHP at 9,000RPM and 14Nm of torque at 9,000RPM. This beast is tamed by a 6-speed manual constant mesh transmission.

Suzuki GSX-R 150

Compared to any other stock bike within its segment, the Suzuki GSX-R is the fastest sports bike in Bangladesh in terms of top speed.

The GSX-R 150 comes at a height of 785mm -very low compared to other motorcycles  and some riders find it uncomfortable to ride however, given the average height of men and women in Bangladesh, the bike's height is proportionate for average height riders.

In terms of performance, handling, and design - especially the Moto GP variant, the Suzuki GSX-R 150 stands at the top of the list of sports bikes for 2020.

Honda CB Hornet 160R (CBS)

There are, without any doubt, motorcycles of the same segment that perform better than the CB Hornet 160R but, if we consider the overall aspects of a commuter bike, the CB Hornet 160R (CBS version) is the best motorbike for 2020 in terms of performance, mileage, sporty looks, and handling in Bangladesh.

The CB Hornet 160R comes with a 162.71cc air cooled, four-stroke, SI BS-IV engine that can deliver a maximum power of 14.9BHP at 8,500RPM and 14.5Nm of torque at 6,500RPM.

Honda CB Hornet 160R

In terms of performance, the CB Hornet 160R (CBS) can do wonders if you are looking for an adrenaline-fueled ride on highways. On city streets, its smooth handling can easily take you through busy roads without having to face any discomfort.

The company claims that the bike can deliver a mileage of 58kmpl however, the mileage always varies from bike to bike and rider to rider, and hence, it is not the same as the company says. However, it surely delivers better mileage than the other bikes of the same segment.

The CB Hornet 160R also has an ABS version and it would have made it to the top of the charts if it would not have come with a huge price tag.

Lifan KPT 150 2020

The first Lifan KPT 150 was launched in 2017, two years later, the second version of KPT 150 was introduced which came with a new balance shaft function (NBF2). This year, Lifan launched the third variant of the KPT 150 that comes with a dual-channel ABS (anti braking system).

With the latest model, the KPT 150 stands out as one of the most reliable adventure motorcycles within our borders.

Lifan KPT 150

The Lifan KPT 150 is powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled carburetor engine that can deliver a maximum power of 17BHP at 8500 RPM. The bike runs on a six-speed manual transmission; the sixth gear allows the bike to run at a lower RPM and hence, results in better fuel economy.

Motorcycle touring has been on the rise for the past couple of years; more motorcyclists keep inclining towards long-distance rides. For such riders, the KPT 150 2020 is the next best alternative as it is way more cost-effective than any other bike that comes with the same specifications.

This tourer bike's engine is loaded with specs that can be found on many high-end sports bikes available in the country. And the best part is – it costs around 40 percent less than the renowned motorcycles of the same segment.
