Bangladeshi owned Dubai-based perfume manufacturer Al Haramain has opened a new outlet in Dhaka.

Abdullah Ali Al Moudi, deputy head of mission of the UAE embassy in Dhaka inaugurated the new showroom at the city's Shimanto Shambhar Shopping Mall on Friday, said a press release.

It will be the 5th showroom of the brand in Bangladesh, with three in Jamuna Future Park and one in Bashundhara City Shopping Complex.

Mohammad Oliur Rahman, vice chairman of Al Haramain Perfumes Group of Company, Mohammad Ashfaqur Rahman, director, and Syed Sabbir Ahmed, executive director, were present at the inauguration ceremony.

Syed Sabbir Ahmed told The Business Standard the market for luxury goods like perfume is expanding in the country due to the rising purchasing power of consumers.

As a result, various world-famous cosmetic brands are now looking to open their businesses in Bangladesh, he said.

"We are the 1st international perfume brand in Bangladesh. Starting in 2013, we have received a positive response in the posh areas," he added.

Al Haramain has more than 100 outlets in Dubai and runs businesses in about 85 countries, added Sabbir Ahmed.
