Humans of Dhaka slum
There are more than 5,000 slums in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. More than 3,00,000 people live in these slums.
As the parents are out at work, many of the children living in these slums often have to spend the whole day unattended, or under the supervision of elder siblings, who are also minors. This sometimes puts them in danger.
The daily income of the families living in a slum is quite low. So their children are often deprived of education and other basic opportunities. Parents are forced to engage their children in various jobs at a very early age. Most of these jobs are risky.

Against all the odds, slum dwellers help the city keep going by providing various low-paid services. These people are often more social compared to well-to-do urbanites. Despite the struggles in life amidst the most unhealthy and unsafe living conditions, the children are never without a smile or enthusiasm.
