Air pollution is a common concern for us all. Every year more than 46,000 people die of acute lower respiratory infections in Bangladesh due to indoor air pollution, according to the World Health Organization. 

Hence, the demand for air purifiers at indoor places is increasing at an obvious number. People are using air purifiers at home and at the office to lower pollution levels. In the market, different types of air purifiers are available depending on the size, budget and capacity.

Having got so many options, you might become confused. To assist you here, The Business Standard has made a list of air purifiers for both office and home.

Philips Air Purifier, AC1215/20
Price: Tk24,950

Specifications:

Coverage area: 677 sq. ft. / 63 sq. metres.

Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR): 270 m3/hr

Wattage: 11 to 50 watts

Warranty: 1 year

This air purifier covers 677 sq. ft so it is sufficient to cover your bedroom. It provides a clean air delivery rate of up to 270 m3/hr. It costs Tk24,950 and comes with a one year warranty.

It assures superior purification indoors with the Vitashield IPS and Nano Protect ProFilter, which filters out harmful gases, such as TVOC and formaldehyde. It also keeps the air free from ultrafine particles. With its smart air sensors, it can detect rising particulate matter (PM) up to 2.5 levels. Up to 99.97 percent allergens and ultra-fine particles as small as 0.02 microns are removed.

It has an automatic alarm that promptly shows reminders to replace any of the filters. There is an option titled night mode that keeps it on for the entire night and also without any noise. 

Hitachi Air Purifier, EP-NZG70J, 240(CH)
Price: Tk48,900

Specifications:

Coverage area: 570 sq. ft. / 53 sq. metres.

Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR): 420 m3/hr

Wattage: 6 to 50 watts

Warranty: 1 year

It keeps the air clean, removes mold, bacteria, viruses, dead house dust mites any kind of odour. It has the ability to reduce exposure to allergens as there is a multi-layered structure of allergen-free HEPA filter. Its covering arena is approximately 570 sq. ft. The price of this air purifier is Tk48,900 and provides a one year warranty.

Its air flow capacity is 1.1 m³/min up to 7 m³/min. It has a washable deodorizing filter which can detect PM up to 2.5 levels. There is a wide range of intake surface area on its back lateral sides and can purify a 140 sq. ft. room quickly. It does not make noticeable noise at home. During silent airflow operation, it makes less than 15dB sound, and in normal mood it raises up to 50dB.

Samsung Air Purifier, AX70J7000WT/NA
Price: Tk47,900

Specifications:

Coverage area: 1000 sq. ft. / 93.1 sq. metres.

Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR): 773 m3/hr

Wattage: 80 watts

Warranty: 1 year 

With its dual power fans and 4 step filtration systems, it can easily inflow air, purify and distribute clean air with its 3-way air flow system. It has capacity to cover 1000 sq. ft. which means it is perfect for your large, spacious living room. Its market price is Tk47,900 and provides a one year warranty.

It cleans up to 99.9% of ultrafine dust, eliminates up to 99.7 percent of harmful viruses and allergens along with harmful gases of the air. It can detect PM from 2.5 up to level 10. With its air purity display, users can see the drop of pollution level in the room within a minute with colourful lights that visually indicates the harmful gas level.

In the sleep mood, it works silently and within 30 minutes it refreshes the entire room. Cleaning its deodorising filter is easier as it has a front sided air inlet. So, users can just open the door and clean it, instead of moving it or pulling away from the wall.

Blueair Pro XL
Price: Tk2,12,000

Specifications:

Coverage area: 1180 sq. ft. / 110 sq. metres.

Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR): 1682 m3/hr

Wattage: 33 to 256 watts

Warranty: 5 year 

The Pro XL is suitable for large rooms, extra-large rooms, open-concept areas or workspaces. Its current market price is around Tk2,12,000 and has a five years warranty. 

It has standard Air Intelligence Module (AIM), with two smart sensors that measures particle and gas levels of indoor air. Its AUTO mode is to automatically adjust the fan speed and maintain the optimal clean air environment. It flows air at 990 cubic feet per minute on the highest speed setting.

Whereas typical air purifiers simply push dirty air through a filter, its HEPASilent™ technology catches smaller particles stuck to the filter and larger particles in the filter mesh. Hence, it can effectively remove 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 micron and help to prevent bacterial growth, using its two filtration technologies.

Price: Tk3,54,769

Specifications:

Coverage area: 2000 sq. ft. / 186 sq. metres.

Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR): 951 m3/hr

Wattage: 40 to 120 watts

Warranty: 5 years for parts and 10 years for labour

This is ideal for use in commercial or industrial space as its capacity is up to 2000 square feet. Its current market price is around Tk3,54,769. However, it cannot be purchased at any showroom in Bangladesh but it can certainly be ordered using Amazon or Desertcart. It has a five years warranty for parts and 10 years warranty for labour.

As it has felt gaskets and steel housing, it does not produce any off-gassing. Hence, it is safe to use. It has three steps filtration process – Pre-Filters, Carbon filters, HEPA filters – which can eliminate bacteria, VOCs, gases, odours, particles and viruses. It traps up to 99.97 percent of the microscopic particles in this filter almost down to 0.3 microns in size.
