Country’s lowest temperature recorded 7.9 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga

The lowest temperature in the country this year was recorded at 7.9 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga this morning as a cold wave is sweeping over the district.
The minimum temperature forecast for Chuadanga yesterday was 11.9 degrees Celsius.
Wind was blowing at 7 km per hour at 11am. The cold wave will continue to sweep through the district for several days.

Chhamadul Islam, a meteorological officer from Chuadanga, said, "A moderate cold flux has been flowing over the district for several days. The temperature may dip more in the next few days and the cold flux will continue as well."
Extreme winter due to chilly northern gusts has engulfed public life. Masses are crowding in old clothing stores to protect themselves from the cold while rootless and working class people are suffering the most from the cold wave.
Local people are burning dried up leaves to provide heat for protecting themselves the chilly weather, and are crowding inside roadside tea stalls.

Saifur Haque, a resident of Juranpur village in Damurhuda upazila, said, "The cold wave has been going on for a few days. I cannot go out of my house for work because of the cold. My family and I have been suffering due to the persisting cold weather."
Hazrat Ali, a resident of Vimrulla Para in Chuadanga municipality, said, "I have set some dried up leaves and straws on fire to provide myself with warmth against the cold."
However, he said that he has not gotten any support from the district administration yet.
"I bought a few inexpensive winter clothes from one of the shops selling old clothes," he added.
The district administration yesterday night distributed blankets among two hundred rootless and low-income people living on the railway track of Farmpara of the district.
Deputy Commissioner of Chuadanga Nazrul Islam Sarkar said, "The district administration has about 20,000 blankets in stock and we have already started distributing the blankets among the poor and low-income people.
"If more blankets are needed, the ministry will be informed."
He said blankets would be distributed among displaced people tonight as well.
