US wants easier access for military equipment, LNG, wheat, cotton imports: Commerce secretary

In the latest documents, the United States has requested easier access for exports of certain products to Bangladesh, Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman said today (8 July).
These include military equipment, Boeing aircraft, liquefied natural gas (LNG), wheat, agricultural products, and cotton. However, no mention was made of automobiles in the US proposal.
He noted that Bangladesh has already begun increasing imports of wheat, cotton, and LNG from the US, and there are also plans to purchase aircraft.
The secretary expressed disappointment over receiving a letter regarding the imposition of a 35% tariff from the US while discussions on the trade agreement are still ongoing.
Mahbubur Rahman is scheduled to fly to the US tonight at 7:30pm (Bangladesh time).
The next negotiation meeting with the US Trade Representative (USTR) will take place on 8 July (US time), which is 9 July morning in Bangladesh, and the commerce secretary will be physically present at that meeting.
