Islami Bank profit drops 81% in first half of 2025

Islami Bank Bangladesh reported that its consolidated net profit dropped by 81% in the January to June period of 2025 mainly due to higher deposit cost.
According to the bank's statement filed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Monday, its consolidated net profit was Tk67.40 crore during the first half of this year, which was significantly lower from Tk356.92 crore in the same period previous year.
At the end of the June, its consolidated earnings per share was Tk0.42, which was Tk2.22 a year ago.
Earlier, the bank could not recommend any dividend to its shareholders for the last year due to the provision shortfall against the classified loans.
