Cost pressures push RAK Ceramics to loss despite Q3 profit
At the end of September 2025, the company posted a cumulative loss of Tk18.61 crore for the first nine months of the year, mainly due to heavy losses in the first half of 2025.
Despite returning to profit in the third quarter (July–September) of this year, RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) Ltd, a publicly listed multinational company, reported a loss of Tk18.61 crore in the first nine months of 2025.
In the third quarter, the company reported a profit of Tk2.43 crore with an earnings per share (EPS) of Tk0.06.
During the same period (Jan-Sep) in 2024, it had incurred a loss of Tk14.77 crore, with a per share loss of Tk0.35, according to its financial statements.
At the end of September 2025, the company posted a cumulative loss of Tk18.61 crore for the first nine months of the year, mainly due to heavy losses in the first half of 2025.
Also, the firm reported 14% year-on-year growth in its sales in the first nine months to Tk516.46 crore.
As per its statements, the net losses in the nine months of the ceramics products maker widened as it incurred a loss of Tk11 crore in the same time of 2024.
In the first half of 2025, the company recorded a net loss of Tk21.04 crore – Tk2.54 crore in the first quarter (January-March) and Tk18.50 crore in the second quarter (April-June), according to its financial statements.
Regarding the losses in the first nine months (Jan-Sep), the company attributed higher raw material and manufacturing costs and increased finance expenses.
As per its financials, its cost of sales increased over 2% to 84% against its total sales, which was 81.71% in the same period of the previous year. Its total cost of sales stood at Tk433.88 crore, which was Tk370.18 crore in nine months of 2024.
While its finance costs surged by 43% to Tk20 crore at the end of September.
RAK reported a consolidated net operating cash flow per share of Tk. 0.34 for the January-September, which was negative at Tk0.37 for the January-September period of 2024, while its consolidated net asset value per share stood at Tk15.79 as on 30 September.
In 2024, RAK Ceramics incurred a loss of Tk2.73 crore with a per-share loss of Tk0.06. Despite incurring losses, it paid a 10% cash dividend to its shareholders for 2024.
RAK shares traded under the A category, and on Thursday, the share price closed at Tk23.40 each at the Dhaka Stock Exchange, which was 1.30% higher over the previous trading session.
